has anyone ever used algone?

I tried Algone for an awful algae bloom problem, and unfortunately it was not the answer to all of our prayers like they say. I was very hopeful, but it didn't work for me :sad:

What is in Algone?

Can anyone tell me what could be in this product that we are putting in our tanks?

I don't know what is in Algone, but I am using it in my heavily planted tank that is only 3 1/2 weeks old. I put some Algone in after the first week, when I began to see some algae forming. I have not had any trouble with water quality. For almost two weeks I have been testing every day or two, no ammonia...no nitrite and only low level nitrate on one test. My new tank has not had any trouble with cycling. I think it is a good product. The only way I would buy it is through their website....much cheaper than at the LFS I saw it at today! I am going to continue using it. I don't enjoy scraping algae and like looking at it even less !! Go to their website and have a look....

Algone...problem?

I used Algone within the past week to help control brown algae. My fish seemed okay before I put Algone in. After 24 hours, four of my fish were dead. By the next 24 hours, I lost two more. The only fish that didn't seem to lose at least one of its kind were my Danios.

Don't know for sure that it was the Algone but it seemed too coincidental. I've removed the Algone...

If you can spare the cash get a diatom filter makes a HUGE impact in watterborn alge.....
