has anyone used a carbo-plus CO2 system from aquarium products? it uses a carbon block and some type of electronic unit. the device is supposed to tell you when to replace the carbon block. it sells for $130 at big al's with a replacement block for about $40. Any one?
I have looked into it and it certainly does work for the average tank (probably does not generate enough for a highly planted very bright, but there are rather exceptions).
Problem is, the running cost is too expensive compared to a CO2 tank
ELKDOG, get a 10lb. CO2 tank, regulator, needle valve, CO2 resistant tubing, check valve, CO2 reactor, bubble counter, solenoid and set it up - watch the bubble counter for stable flow, and forget it. Of course, you need to check the amount of CO2 you have in the aquarium.
Be prepred to spend around $150 to $200.
You will be very happy with the results once you get it all up and running!
You can search around for the best price, or by it in "kit" form minus the tank. Most places don't ship the tank, besides why pay shipping when you can get one locally?
AGREE, There is no "cheap" co2 set up for 150 gal. tank except for presurized. True, the initial cost is a bit, but once your up and running there's no other way to go. Refilling the tank is inexpesive and for a 150 I would quess every 6 months.
