I lost a Farlowella in my 46 bow for about 6 months. I was sure it was gone and the snails devoured it. It was hard enough to find the fish normally as it liked to hide on the underside of some driftwood I have in that tank. I had looked several times over the months trying to find it. I started to get suspicious as to wether it had really disappeared as my driftwood was eroding at an alarming rate but I still didn't see it after 5 months. Lo and behold during my last water change I did a massive plant pruning and voila! I see the tell tail sign of my small beast. The split tail in amongst the crypt stems made my day. I hate to lose a fish for any reason but to find one that was given up for lost is a great feeling. So.... have you lost and found a fish?

Q

yeah, I've got corys, and for the longest time I thought I'd lost one...I was so sure that when my wife told me there were 5 I started making fun of here for not knowing how to count, but sure enough, there was a small pale male hiding in a cave that i'd never seen. I started nursing him back to health and now he's a jet black slugger of a fish. Eats like a hog.

Just the other day I saw a bulldog pleco in my 75 gallon I hadn't seen in about 6 months.

I started my tank with 5 Zebra Danios. I never added any others, and counted only 4 for MONTHS. I even found what looked like remains on the filter. No other fish numbers have changed since the tank started, and I now have 6 Zebra Danios. I also know that there never was any smaller danio, so it's VERY unlikely that an egg magically survived and grew into a full adult without me noticing.

I lost my baby (1") galaxy pleco and i was flippin out and i found him hanging out in the underground filter tube. I was like... oh ok. Cool.

Had a ropefish that I didn't see for about 6 months one time!

I have a dwarf marbled catfish (microglanis ihirengi) in my 20g puffer tank that I don't see for months at a time. I named him Elvis because every now and again, I get a quick sighting of him.

I have a 20 long that is completely choked with plants. As far as my tanks go, it's probably the most egregiously overstocked, but you'd never guess. There are a couple catfish and loaches that I can't ever really tell if they're dead or alive. Might get a glimpse once every few months.

I thought all of my oto's had either died, or been eaten by my angels, I used to see them on the glass, but had not seen them in a while. Cleared out a bunch of plants, and lo and behold, there are 6 oto's still happily swimming around and getting pretty large (1"+ size)

Well that happened to me, but with indian zebra shrimp instead of fish. I initially had four 1/4" juveniles placed in my microfish themed 29g planted tank, but didn't see them for over six months and was really upset, thinking they had all perished. Just two months ago, I saw a 1/2" male and a week after that, a berried 1/2" female! I haven't seen them since then and never saw the other two, but am glad there's a good chance they're all still alive :) I plan to get more soon and place them in a tank by themselves so I can actually monitor their health and growth for once!
