Have you seen a Pleco do this?

So, the other day I was walking by my tank and hear a strange noise coming from one of my filters. I thought, darn my AC300 is dying already. However as I take a closer look, I see a tail sticking down from my outfeed tray. It's my Bushynose just hanging in the outfeed. I thought he was stuck or something so I take the top off and away he goes.

He does this most nights after lights out. I was worried about it at first but he seems fine and water quality is good. I keep my water level up higher so as to keep the waterfall effect down from my filters a bit. This is probably why he can get to it. Not sure if this is something I should be worried about or not?

Maybe he found something there that tastes good... a bit of algae on the filter media maybe? You made it sound like it looks hilarious. I wonder if it just feels good to have the water flowing by. Smaller fish might stay in the stream to get oxygen, but it sounds like the plec is fine the rest of the time, so I would think he found something he likes there.

ah, now that sounds more likely spartan. the night thing is what got me though... that's when they eat right?

Yes, it is rather funny, at least the first time I saw it (after the panic that he was stuck wore off). He seems to like the flow of water rolling over him.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong. Plecos in the wild live in fast flowing water, hence the suckermouth. So, he would enjoy the current.

Pleco's do come from areas of strong current, and spend most of their lives clinging to wood and other submerged objects. I imagine he find the filter to be a pretty awesome place to hang out. I bet it is somewhat comical.

Mine does the same thing in a Whisper w/o a biobag cartridge. Algae on the outflow and in box untouched by SAE. First time I noticed, he was in the box. Now comes and goes at will.
