Heat from lighting?

This idea isn't original to me, in fact I read it in another thread within the past week or so. Some folk in your situation have taken the following course of action to reconcile incandescent lighting with stable tank temperatures:

Leave the lights on for 24+ hours, until the temp stabilizes. Turn the lights off, and adjust a heater to maintain that temp. Of course, the success of this process hinges upon accurate temp measurements, but you're (literally) a pro.

The idea behind this is that the lights do the heating while they're on, but the heater is there to pick up the slack and maintain a stable temperature when the lights are off.

Having said all of this...

If the lights alone are keeping the tank warmer than you want it to be, then this is a moot post, and you should go buy some flourescents :rolleyes:
