Heat lamp/basking light for 55gallon

I tried a 60 watt bulb on my 10g and it didnt workup, 84 degree temps with 76 degree room temp. Vicious fish, i like the concept, but being a 16 year old on a really tight budget, i cant afford those.

I have a 50 watt halo flood light that works, should i look for a 100 watt one?

Yes it would. Those lights get pretty hot, I used a 75 watt on my Sulcata enclosure on the cool side and it threw some major heat, lol.

You might want to invest in a clamp light stand to allow you to adjust the height of the bulb and the temperature.
