Heater position questions

would it be a bad thing to put the heaters under the substrate? Mine collect algae all the time, trying to find ideas on how to hide them besides plants

Depends on the heater I suppose. I was pretty certain the instructions mine came with said not to place them under the substrate. Also, it will be very hard to adjust temperature and see any indicator lights if your heater is underneath anything.

puffernewbee, very true! I don't understand what it is with having access to the adjustment, I can understand when you first get it, but once its set, isn't it set? Thats my thought. but I do like the idea of having it horizontal 2 inches above the substrate! Thanks guys!
