My heater is on the other side of the tank as my filter. I was just wondering if i could move my heater next to my filter to get the heated water moved to other parts of that tank faster, or would it just cause complications with the filter? thanks

Of course, you can.:)

It will heat more effectively if it has some flow past it. Either from the filter suction/discharge or from a powerhead directed to that area. Just do not keep it in a low flow or stagnant area.

lol i've seen people who hide their heated underneath the gravel w/out problem

It will mess up the heaters thermistate. The gravel area would be warm, and the water temp different.
