I recently bought a Whisper 60 heater and I am not happy with it's performance. Or maybe it's the operator -- who knows. :) But I can not get the dang thing to be at a steady temperature. I turn it on and the temp jumps to 80. I turn it down and it falls to 70 over night. NOT GOOD!

So can anyone recommend a better heater brand to me?

It does have an adjustable knob, but it doesn't have any numbers on it. I can't seem to get the right position of the knob to stabalize the temp.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to see what I can find later today.

I have a heater (older version) like that on my fresh water. I got it many moons ago. It is a pain in the butt to get the temp stable. It is possible but not worth your time or effort. It is a very cheap heater. If you need a quick fix then Hydor Theo's are sold at most petsmarts. They are a decent heater. If your looking for one online there are several options. You can browse through this site:

There are a bunch of options. I have heard really good things about the Visi-Therms recently. All of these heaters should have a temperature dial on them with degrees listed so they are very easy to set.

I'd ditch it. The next mode of operation on a flake like that could well be 'stuck-on'.
