Hello...I have a 2.5g tank (12x6x8"). I would like to house a betta in there. I know they do much better with heaters, so I'm trying to find out if I could put an over powered heater (like for a ~5g tank) if I kept it on a lower heat, or do you just suggest no heater at all? The one I found at my LFS is a 25w. Is this Dangerous? Are there other forms of heating I could use? I have a lid, lighting, substrate, filters, materials to seed the new filter...etc...All i need is the heater, and the betta.

im sure it wouldnt be an issuse as long as you dont turn the heat up to high

could be wrong but i think you need to worry about having enough wattage as apposed to having to much

I believe 25w is for a 5g tank, so if I kept the temp on the lower side im sure my tank would stay at the correct tempurature! Thanks for the help!
