I was looking to buy new heaters for my tank the other day, and I couldnt decide between two. There were visiterm deluxe and visitherm stealth models. They were the exact same price.

I'm just curious, what is the difference between these two?

If I am not mistaken stealth has atuo shut off feature and stop/restart overheat protection feature. That is the only major difference as far as I can tell.

I prefer the stealths myself. They tend to be a bit more durable and more prone to fail-safe rather than fail-insinerator. And the lack of an active light keeps them from being bashed to pieces by more aggressive fish.

Sounds good. I guess I'll go with the visitherm stealths. I'm going to put two 100w in my 29 gallon. I know that's a little more than the typical 5w per gallon, but my house stays pretty cold during the winter months. It's normally 62-65 degrees, so my fishies need some extra heat to be happy!

Okay, so another question. I was just given a 5 gallon tank that I'm going to be setting up in my office. I've been looking for accessories for it tonight, and the stealth offer anything smaller than a 50w. What's a good heater for a small tank?

Actually, the stealth goes down to 25W.

I buy all of my equipment online due to lack of local availability. To be honest though, you could use a 50W and be okay.

Hey, I have both a Visi-therm Deluxe 100W and a Stealth 200W in my 46g tank. At first I only had the 100W Deluxe because it used to be in my 20g tank, and I wanted to get another Deluxe to work together with the 100W in the new tank. I couldn't find anymore Visi-therm deluxe at my local Petsmart or Jack's Aquarium, not evne wal-mart. So Iended up just getting the Stealth at Petsmart, saved me $15 by using Petsmart's online pricematch thing. I like the Deluxe better as far as looks go, but if you have a dark background, the Stealth look really nice. I got a dark background for my tank, but it was a little short by maybe a centimeter in the back, I just pressed the Stealth in the corner and because it's long, it covered up the spot that my background missed really well. and you couldn't even tell ther's a heater there. Whenever I wanted to move the heaters, I always had to be really really careful about the Visi-therm Deluxe just cuz it's glass, but I have hit ti against the glass tank before a few times, and it never broke. However, the Stealth seems erally really durable. The other really big difference is taht teh Deluxe has a light indicating when the heater is turned on or off, but Idon't nkow how much that matters to you.
