well i plan on getting a stingray and i know that they burn easily. so what type of hearter would be best i was looking at the stealth heaters. i might build plexiglass housings with holes in them. any ideas thanks

Considering that you will have a huge aquarium for a stingray, I'd plan ahead and use a wet/dry sump and put my heater in there.

My largest aquarium right now is only a 75 gallon, and I am not using a sump, but had I planned better, I would have installed one inside the cabinet. Too late now since I can't get anything large enough inside the doors.

I do really like the stealth heaters. Bought my first one a few weeks ago and will never go back to crummy breakable glass heaters.

I currently have two stingrays, and I'd recommend heating the water outside the tank, preferably in a sump.

If not, use fully submersible models and make a housing for them to avoid burns. Make sure you place them hidden behind a rock or boogwood to avoid the ray from moving or breaking it. Also, make sure the spot(s) where you place it (tthem) has a nice current to dissipate the heat to the entire tank. Sometimes this is difficult for large rocks or pieces of wood will create dead spor where water might not circulate well. In this case a small powerhead would help.

My stingray tank uses no heaters. The submersible pump inside the sump releases heat and keeps my tank at 80º always. :D

ya i dont think im gonna use a sump if i do thats what ill do im just gonna have a quare 150 gallon tank it the corners i will make 2 plexi pieces and drill holes in the plexi unless i go with a sump. do you think i will be ok with a 150 gallon tank for 1 hystrix ray?
