I'm looking for suggestions on heating a 3 gallon acrylic tank. I want the temperature to be stable before I put anything in there. Right now the temperature is hovering about 70*F so I'd like to bump it up a bit for a Betta.

I noticed wall m had 5 - 10 watt'ers, also online places have them........:)

the jr aquarium ones that wal mart sells aren't worth the 6 dollars. they aren't adjustable and they die often. i have an elite 25 watt in my 5.5 gallon betta tank and it is great. more expensive at 13.99 from my local fish store but it works great. they are for up to 5.5 gallon aquariums.

for clarification, it's an elite mini submersible 5 from hagen. more info on hagen.com

I have a Hydor Theo 25 in my 2 gal fry tank, and it works great. It has an adjustable temperature dial, so I can set it to the temp I want, and I have yet to see it overheat the tank. Highly recommend.

I have a 7.5 W mini hydro heater. The only thing is, it doesn't have a thermostat, but it is only supposed to raise your water temp 4-5*F above your ambient room temp. I only have it for the winter, because we usually keep our house at 75*F during the summer, so w/my 2.5 g betta tank, it's pretty close to that all the time.
