I have a hundred ten gallon planted cube with about twenty-thirty various tetras, barbs, angelfish, plecos, bettas, catfish, and two newts. My pictus catfish is covered in ick and i have not spotted any spots on any of the other fish. What is the best way to handle this it will be nearly impossible to catch him without destroying my tank (I have already started meds in the 110 but any advise?):help2:

One of the most effective ways to treat ick is with heat and salt.
You need to be careful with raising the temperatures in regards to what your fish can tolerate. I THINK its 2 TSP of aqaurium salt per gallon of water.. Check online for info regarding this method. there are several threads here on AC regarding it.
If you just want to catch the one fish, try lowering your water level to about 1/2
Use 2 nets, and chase the fish with one net, into the other net.
Might also be helpful to do this with the lights off, as it will be more difficult for the fish to see the net.

I wouldn't use salt in a planted tank, not if you want the plants to live. I'd try to catch the pictus and do a salt dip on him.
Salt dip useless for ick as you can't treat the parasite on the fish. You need to treat the tank because it's only the freeliving stage you can attack. The salt may put the plants back a bit, but they'll recover. Aquarium salt is an unnecessary expense; ordinary table salt is fine - do not believe the myths about iodine and anti-caking agents - they're all harmless.
well i have been treating the whole tank with an ick medicine i have used for many years successfully for a small outbreak. However sadly I was able to pull out the pictus cat that was so infected and try to treat him in QT however he succumed to the illness this evening and had to be given a traditional style flushing. :-( So should I add some kosher salt to my main tank none of the other fish are "showing" signs but i am still treating with the medicine for another couple of days.
