Hi I posted about a month ago about my new marine tank and its been interesting so far.

To my ignorance I started my tank cycle with fish and one died :headshake2: but I think it was due to agresivness by the other fish at least thats what the fish store said. But I'm happy to informed that the others are doing well I tested my tank today and I got these results:

Ph 8.0 - 8.3
NO2 <0.3
Kh 8*dh
Nh3 0mg/L
Salt 1.023

So from what I was told I was safe to get new life into the tank :) so I got these:

2 Clownfish
10 Crabs
2 Shirmps
2 Feather Dusters

Here are some Pics

Now I have a few questions when I placed one of the feather duster the "feathers" fell off :headshake2: is it dead? but the good news is that after carefully looking at my tank I notice that I see 4 baby feather dusters is hard to see but here are 2 of them

I love it:)

Now I have notice that I have been getting brown algae

Will the crabs eat these??

Thank you for your info and time.

Looking really good indeed....Have you got a shot of the feather duster that dropped? and is that the tube sticking up from the substrate?

The brown algae is diatom algae which will go in time, happens to all systems as they get established...

Looking good!

Atxion: Yes thats the one, I notice today that the hermit crabs are picking @ it. As for the brown algea its going fast, the hermit crabs are eating at it, what am I to feed them when its all gone? and what about the cleaner shrimp, today they were eating the fish food that was sinking to the bottom but are the okay with that? considering that the foof contains shrimp?

Thanks rbishop :)

Grins: Yes I belive thats one of the feather dusters that hitch hiked with that rock :) But the one that lost the feathers is the bottom left side on the first picture.

I noticed in your parameters that you said that NO2 is <.3ppm. Did you mean Nitrates? Did the LFS say that you were done cycling and ready to stock your tank?

Just wondering because my water parameters are the same as yours now.

SigPiPup: Yes its the Nitrates my test kit gives me a reading of less then 0.3 reading on N02, 0 is what you want but my test kit only provides a color reading of < 0.3 wich is yellow my reading was a bit lighter than yellow :)
