Hello,
My name is Dave and I am an avid aquarist and have been keeping fresh water tanks for 8 years. I currently own two tanks. A 55 Gallon cichlid tank and a 29 gallon soon to be FOWLR tank.

I got the 29 gallon three years ago as a gift from my wife (then g/f). I wanted at least a 55 but did not have enough room in the house we were renting at the time. I had always kept small tropical community tanks before and wanted to try something different. I decided to go with dwarf Africans. It's a small tank so I only had 4 fish including my rubber lipped pleco. Two years later we bought a house (woohoo) and got married. The house we bought had much more room and when the opportunity came for me to get a free 55gallon tank and stand I jumped on it. Myself and a couple of my friends who do construction/remodeling for a living built the 55 into one of the walls in my basement bar recently (see pic). I basically tranfered all of the contents of the 29 gallon to the 55 and added more fish! (Sorry the pic was before fish)

On to the 29. I'm left with an empy tank in the corner of my living room and my wife has been on me to get rid of it (no way!!) or get it going with something else. I chose the latter of course! I started reading a lot about planted tanks online and was set on starting one. I went with my wife to my totally awesome and knowledgable not so LFS to check out some plants/prices and check out co2 systems. While i was looking at the plants, my wife wandered over to the salt water fishes area. After about 15minutes of looking she came over and said "screw the plants come look at these". We were looking at all of the "cool/cute" saltwater fish. "Lets start a saltwater tank"! says my wife. How cool is that!!!??? Your wife insists on doing a saltwater tank!! Needless to say I started researching right away. I just ordered my power heads and protien skimmer yesterday. Within the next couple weeks I should be getting my live rock and sand and get the tank started. I will be documenting my progress on the site!
