This seems like a very friendly place.
I have lurked around some other sites and been afraid of getting yelled at.
My husband and kids set up a 12 gal. high saltwater tank for me for my birthday. I have live sand in the tank and a clean up crew of 10 snails and 5 crabs. I was regularly bringing my water to the marine aquarium store in my neighborhood, and I thought that they were really knowledgable about things, but unfortunately they were not. I now have four dead dwarf sea horses in there. Two are still hanging on, but they don't look like they're doing well. I have been reading up on this and I think that the tank didn't cycle properly, because I've had ammonia and nitrite and nitrate readings for the past few days. I'm thinking that the tank is possibly almost cycled and that maybe the two little guys that are hanging on might be O.K.?? I also have three pipe fish that came with the dwarfs and there are baby pipe fish all over the tank.
I am feeding them freshly hatched baby brine shrimp twice a day.
I'm thinking I should leave the dead ones in there to complete the tank cycling??
Any advice on how to make this bad situation better would be appreciated. Please no yelling - I thought I could trust the people at the marine aquarium shop and have definitely learned my lesson!
