He won't be lonesome in the tank. Fish really don't get that emotional about being alone. As long as his water is stable and he gets fed he will be fine. And I wouldn't add any new fish to that tank as it is very small for goldfish and they do produce a lot of waste. Adding another fish in there could lead to stunting problems that will lessen the life span of your fish and that isn't a good idea.
