New to the forum and returning to aquaria after 12 years of absence.

I cannot believe how stressed out I am about tank "cycling" and choosing fish species. I never worried about this in college and had great success.

I guess I am going to try a "fishless" cycle. However, I am NOT looking forward to having an empty tank for 6 weeks. Plus, I travel every other week and my pregnant wife is not going to be happy testing the water while I am away...

I just wish I knew someone with an established tank so I could speed up the process!

:confused::confused:

Welcome to AC! You could ask your local store (if its reputable) to get some seasoned media for your tank to help speed up the cycle.

Congrats to you and your wife :) Hope you enjoy the community!

We don't have any LFS where I live. I live in the mountains of Colorado, there is a Walmart and Petco within 40 miles but I don't think I trust them to have clean disease free tanks.

Thanks for the congrats!

Welcome to Ac! :D Dont't rush and buy fish. Also, while you may have had success in just picking fish species in college, this is not something you want to do so do your research to avoid having a 14 inch oscar or a 3 foot RTC on your hands :).

If you're ever in boulder I'd be happy to give you some healthy filter media. Welcome to AC!
