My name's Abi, I'm 18 and I currently only have two platys, three kuhli loaches and a siamese fighter, in a ten gallon Aquael fishbowl which is absolutely beautiful. I am a relatively novice tropical fish owner.

My plans are to get some Axolotls next year- I have room for a 28inch tank and also breed daphnia and have a wormery so can keep them well fed. I need all the information I can get, so have signed up to absorb all of your knowledge! I want to be the best keeper for my pets possible.

I think my current tank is probably a bit overstocked- I actually only have the two platys on loan from a friend; they were to start my filter and now I'm quite attached! They'll be going back to their old tank soon though :(

Apart from the fish, I have a middle aged, rather enormous black and white cat called Oliver (who rather enjoys 'fish-watching') and eight chickens, named Hilda, Matilda, Rocky, Peewee, Eva, Gloria, Violet and Rosalie. I'm really into organic farming (which is why I have the wormery and a system for daphnia) and all things 'eco friendly', so having a tropical tank in my room is a bit hypocritical! I'm currently looking for a way to solar power my tank so that I don't have to have it plugged into the mains 24/7.

Look forward to getting to know you all :)

edit: Also used to have an albino cory until I realised the tank wasn't big enough and that they don't like to be on their own, so he was relocated to a friend's tank! LOVE albino corys and would like to get some more in the future- the reason I got kuhli's (who are AWESOME, just love them) is cos my fish shop couldn't get dwarf albino corys in :(

Sounds cool. I would say that the platies need a bigger tank eventually but since you have them on loan that isn't a problem. :) Axolotls are easy to keep and well-established in labs. They are starting to take root in the aquarium industry as well. It is nice that you feed your fish live food. They will definitely appreciate it. :D

WELCOME TO AC!!! :D
