I've just recently gotten into keeping aquaria. It all started when an adorable Eastern Painted turtle hatchling came into my life last March. I've come a long way from keeping her in a gallon pickle jar (briefly!) to her current 30 gallon home. I've recently added guppies, which are supposed to be turtle food but Milo hasn't figured that out yet. I also recycled Milo's intermediate 10 gallon home into a holding tank for female guppies and fry so that I can keep the population from exploding before Milo learns how to eat them. I do intend to let them breed some, selecting for health, maintaining a small wild-type size, and color. (They might as well be pretty, right?) I give them all the best care I can, including the feeders, because no creature should suffer needlessly.

In real life, I am a graphic designer. I'm not sure if links are allowed in the forum, but if you are interested in seeing my work you can Google my name, Megan Strickland, and it should be the first result.

Thanks in advance for answering the questions I'm sure I will have!

Best,
Megan

sounds like your on the track to keeping a full fledged aquarium. its awesome that you breed your own feeders since store bought ones can harbor parasites. a lot of people here are turtle enthusiasts as well as fish, including myself. and oh ya, welcome to AC :D
