Hello all.
I'm a sort of new, yet old, fishkeeper. I had freshwater fish for a number of years as a kid (way back in the mid 70s). I just got back into it at the beginning of the year because the kids wanted a pet, but they're not really interested in it yet. So I now have 2 freshwater community tanks: a 20 and a 65.
Fishkeeping sure has changed since I was a kid. We had never heard of the nitrogen cycle or doing partial water changes. Back then when I wanted to change the water I'd put all the fish in a bucket, empty the tank, scrub the tank and everything else, fill with new water and put the fish back in. It's a wonder anything survived all that cycling every few months. Eventually I got tired of all that cleaning and water changes so I gave up the hobby.
It's a lot easier now with the partial water changes so I expect to stick with it this time.
Here are pics of my 2 tanks (I hope I can figure out how to attach pictures). One is the kids' and the other mine. See if you can figure out which is which.
Hello again and I look forward to my time here.
