Portugal
Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to all the forum members.

I just recently moved to Portugal from Toronto Canada and have just purchased a new tank Rena Aquarama Panorama (aka a 20g bowfront.....lol).

The tank has just been set-up a week with gravel; a few rocks and three live plants (have not identified them as of yet) with local well water.... I am planning on a fishless cycle (but I'm having problems locating pure ammonia) and have not been able to find a proper test kit.

Have not decided on what to stock my tank with (I guess I have a lot of time to decided while my tank cycles). I am thinking South American although the local LFS is limited with fish selection. Was thinking livebearer but was interested in some corys, which is probably not a good idea due to brackish needs of many livebearers.

Anyways hope to make some new friends who share in my love for aquaria and as always I am open to any suggestions.

Cheers

Hello..........:welcome:

Welcome to AC!

Welcome to our Community!

Livebearer's shouldn't need salt in their water, just keep up regular maintenance.

Are you mainland Portugal or the Azores?

Thank you all for the very warm welcome!!

blackwolfXKAV, I am living in mainland Portugal near Viseu.

Cheers

jpappy789 & blackwolfXKAV,

Glad to hear that I may be able to stock my tank with livebearers after all and still keep a few corys.

The local LFS stock guppys, swords and platys from the livebearers group. In terms of other fish they stock gouramis, angels, few tetras (limited selection) and tiger barbs; as I said very limited selection.

Any stocking suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
