I have been lurking about these forums for just under a year and decided to finally register.
Last year, a friend and I saw the Fluval Edge and fell in love with it. She bought one but they were so expensive that I held off (they are about $330 AUD, and the AUD is pretty much on par with the USD lately). Plus, I had a strong suspicion that this was a hobby that I could easily become obsessed with and would quickly eat up all of my money (which isn't a lot).
My friend ended up overstocking and offered me her extra fish... Luckily my Mum was coming to visit and gave me an 8 gal / 30L tank she had in the garage! And after a few months of hunting around and price matching, I bought an Edge for $180...
And of course, now I am hooked!
My dream is to one day have a beautiful FW planted shrimp tank (maybe even a paludarium!), but I have a lot to learn (and a lot to save) before that can happen.
