Hi!
I’m new here (obviously)… I’ve kept fish ever since I was a little girl but lately find myself slowly embarking into “new” territory with my fish and with that has come many questions and I luckily stumbled across this site. I love the forums! I have been reading them for hours the past couple nights and found them to have such a wealth of information!
I have a 10 gallon and a 55 gallon tank set up currently, both freshwater with various fish and live plants. I purchased a used 120 gallon aquarium a couple of months ago, and it’s been hiding in our garage while we finish installing the new flooring in our living room. I hope to start setting it up early next month and meanwhile I’ve been researching just what to do with this tank. I don’t think I’m ready to venture into saltwater just yet (someday, I hope!). I want this new tank to be the center piece in our living room and have so many ideas it’s exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Currently I’m thinking a heavily planted peaceful community tank with it’s primary fish being a huge school of cardinal tetras….
Sooooooo… I’m learning about CO2 systems.. and still feel like I have NO clue! I’m also new to canister filters, having always used HOB filters before, but with the larger tank and where it sits in my living room I wanted to try and use something that fits under the stand. So I bought a Fluval FX5 and I’m keeping my fingers crossed with that…we’ll see how set up goes! I’m trying to figure out what to do with the crazy lighting system that came with the tank, if it will even work for fresh water plants, etc… and again.. have NO clue..
But it’s fun! And I’m looking forward to the challenges this new tank (and it’s learning curve!) will provide me.
