Hello, I am a 60 year young man who has beeen in the hobby fro over 55 of my hears on the Earth. I was president of the Bay State Aquariun Society in Marlboro Ma. for a few years and now I am about to ( or lat least I thnk) become the vice President of the Pioneer Valley Aquarium Society which is having their meeting Tuesday June 5 in Agawam Ma. I have built 2 fish rooms in the past and am in the process of building another one now. What is holding me back is lack of money and I am disabled by a couple of things.
The fish that I am really interested in are the new world cichlids but I will be breeding several other types of fish to help out my wallet if only to pay for my hobby. I will be setting up strands for 20 gallon long tanks , drilled for central filtration systems. I will also put in a few larger tanks for grow out and also for breeding some of the harder to breed fish like the Altum angelfish. I have a 150 gallon tank that will be for the Altum angelfish. At present I have 5 angelfish, 2 males and 3 femalse that do not know which mate to pair up with of even a group mating. I also have a pair of firemout that are constantly breeding in my 55 gallon comunity tank and a couple pair of Gymnogeophagus (I am not sure of which species) that have been doing their thing in that same 55 gallon tank and some dolphin chichlids that can't seem to find a place in the tank to spawn. I also have some Badis badis that so far have not done anything , some dwarf golden eyed cichlids that are spawnig. a few killifish that are spawning in their own tank (I have 7 tanks up stairs so they are not all in the same tank). Also I am trying to get my albino bushymouth plecos to breed but without any luck so far and also my gold nugget plecos again with out luck. I am sure that when I get the fish room set up and running I will have a lot better luck with the breeding of these and other fish. Incidently all of my tanks oare planted to help with the filtration .
