I think the species I'd be using is Crangon crangon
It's quite hard to tell though, it could be some Palemon species.. I'm trying to find out now! My tutor just said 'common shrimp' so it could be either. I'm pretty sure it's Crangon crangon though.

Crangon species look pretty cool to me. Not as brightly colored as cleaners, but maybe you can get them to eat out of your hand like Lysmata species.

I was wrong! It's Palaemon serratus! Apparently they get quite tame. I'd still rather be using cleaners though! :hi:

I'm measuring the number of molts in a certain period of time and apparently light.

This could take some time to get a good spread of results, my cbs molted every two - three weeks.

I would also start your experiment from each shrimps first molt that way it will not matter when they last molted.
