I live in North Carolina near the Pilot Mountain K
I am new to the world of goldfish and forums of any kind. I will probably make more than one mistake. I started out with a 140 gal pond. Decided to get a 10 gal tank for inside. After doing research on the net, I went and got a 5 gal tank for a "hospital" tank. During my research, discovered I had too many fish in my pond. So we added another 270 gal pond and moved most of the fish to it. We have made mistakes and are learning slowly from them. I get really frustrated with the conflicting info that is out there and would love to know of some realiable info sources. I love to watch my fish but I seem to be working myself to death to keep up with the water changes and testing, ect.:1zhelp:

Welcome to AC.

once your initial set up and cycling is done, then you should not have too many problems... Still work involved but you will get more time to enjoy your fish. And we all make a few mistakes alone the way. Be sure to ask lots of questions on the forums and you will get your answers.

There will always be conflicting info tho, Many things are down to personal experience. Tho i cant actually say i have ever gone so far as to read a book on fish keeping. Most of my info comes from forums... and what other people have done that has worked. :)

Like the above post, I have never read a book on the hobby. Most info you get is not cut and dried (so to speak). In this hobby there are many things that should be accomplished for the health of the fish and have come down to "acceptable practices".Most of the information on this forum is "common practice" or "common knowledge".

Please do not assume because someone has a high post count they know their material.There are a few posters that have no business giving advice on this forum as well. Time will show you as to who is correct and which posters are talking through their hat. Be sure to join into chat and ask away as well as posting your questions.
