Hi, I'm somewhat, sort of new at the aquarium hobby.

I say new. I've always had fish but I've never done much more than keep them fed and followed the basic rules of fishery. I've had PetsMart's 46 gallon bowfront set-up for a year and half now with a mix of PetsMart's finest community tank offerings. It's hard to get into the hobby when you can't depend on a local independent fish store.

But this past Christmas, I asked for and received a 48x24x30 150 gallon tank. I tossed all of the equipment that came with the tank and invested in better equipment and a few additional extra's like UV sterilization and CO2.

I started this project the first week in December. I still do not have the first fish in the tank since I'm going to aggressively plant the sucker. I have my plants on order and expect the first delicate green fronds to appear on my doorstep tomorrow. Suffice to say I've went from a mere "keeper" to an enthusiastic hobbyist.

I'm a semi-presence at a family business, although I'm a mostly SAHM of two. That's a polite way of saying I'm only here when they need me. My other hobbies are reading, costuming and participating in local Mardi Gras (I live in Louisiana). Our only other pet is the Queen of Sheba currently parading as a twelve year old dog.
