Hello!

A little over a year ago I was given a 20 gal. aquarium complete with filter, heater, decor, everything. I had never had fish before (everything else from lizards and spiders to scorpions and birds, lol) but never fish. I figured that since my tank was doing so good, and my fish all seemed happy, I'd try something a little bigger.

I just bought a 72 gal. (I know, I know, a LOT bigger, lol) that I'm going to use for slightly bigger freshwater fish. I am also going to attempt live plants. Since I'm still relatively new at this, any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm still doing lot's of research on everything (plants, fish, chemicals, cycling, etc) I'm really in no hurry. I don't have a whole lot of money, so it may take several months to get it completely up and running, but when I'm done it's going to be a real showpiece! :grinyes:

Thanks!

Hi,
I'm an absolute aquaria novice and have come to the 'hobby' from aquaponics. I decided to establish a clean food supply for my family including fruit, veg, fowls and fish (murray cod and yabbies). Anyway there's a long story about integrated organic suburban food production that I WON'T bore you with, suffice to say I've become fascinated with freshwater aquaria.
I'm in southern Australia and realistically can only buy fish online, so I'll be learning all I can from you before stocking my tanks. I have 1x160 litres (40 gal) and 4x 40 litres.
Cheers, Murray
