I have just gotten back into keeping an aquarium; we always had one growing up but during college it was just too impractical. Originally, I just wanted a beta fish to keep me company at work, but I enjoyed watching him swim around when I returned home so much that I've decided to keep his tank next to my computer. I didn't realize it would be so relaxing! I added a snail and from the looks of it, I'll soon have something else too...I just purchased a plant and was too much of a noob to know I should have cleaned the plant before I stuck it in the tank. The plant has two egg blobs on it...now it's become a science experiment!
