Well it's a long story but lucky for you I'm sitting here bored at work!!! LOL!
I had a 215 fowlr. Filled and happy ... and one day I just stopped in a new LFS that just opened close to where I just bought this house... so I go in and meet the owner... we start talking and conversation turns to wine like it usually does with me for some reason!!! Anyway... he states he would love to stop by and check out the wine cellar... so he did.. and (Being the great sales person that he was!) he noticed that I had a section of indented wall that ran about 20 plus feet... he then convinced me that a tank would look super in that spot... (Yeah, I bit!) and now 3 months later.. I have the tank up and running.... I am trying to decide what kind of fish I want in there.... well... I am a very impulsive person... if I see something I like... I have to have it like yesterday!! so.. I told him I want to start off with a couple of fish and as I see fish I will buy them!!! BUT NO!!!! He tells me that I have to do a major introduction of fish because of the size of the tank and the fact that I wanted all aggressive fish... So I questioned him and he was adamant about his statement.... He then said, and I quote, "Trust me you have to do it my way, I've been in the business almost all my life... I guarantee nothing will happen, as a matter of fact if any fish die I will personally replace them!" Well, he now owes me like $25,000.00 in fish.... LOL!
He started adding fish in groups of 20 -30.... and a couple of days later another 20 - 30... and again and again.... well.... The pics you see are from the first batch... well... the tank was thriving.... there was fish everywhere and they seemed to be doing great... I even brought down my fish from the 215 upstairs... Then the day after the last batch... (around 150 - 200 fish) .... In batches of like 10 - 15 fish ... they start breathing heavy and swimming erratically... then the next day they are dead.... I immediately called him and told him what was going on.. he sent one of his guys over to grab a water sample... Next day... same thing... another 20ish fish dead.... I call him again and he tells me don't worry your water tested okay!!! I said look you blah, blah, blah.... get your butt over here and figure out what's going on!!! He promised me he would and unfortunately I had to go away on business for a couple days.. and by the time I got back... all but a few stragglers were dead... and they also lost the fight... the only survivor.. was my Dragon...
He states that while I was gone he tried several treatments and tested water reguarly... water change and he even send water to one of his "People" and they couldn't find anything wrong.. he also told me that he was sending one of the dead fish to the same person... (I wouldn't be surprised if he never even came by!! Probably sent his guys down to collect the dead fish!) Anyway... that's the story... I am now only dealing with this guy to get back some of my "Dead Fish" money.... oh... and also if you notice on the pics.. the cabinet is not done... the sides where the chiller and skimmer are need to be closed in and the borders need to be put up and the feeding access doors need to be cut... (I'm not holding my breath on that one.. )
So.. that is my horror story for the day!!!!
I had a couple puffers... 2 masked, 3 dogface, 1 huge stars & stripes, 2 something fowl and a couple more I can't remember names of...
Anyway.. I saw the dogface puff twice... and another.. whose name I can't remember.. but it was cooler watching them exhale the water vs blowing up.... LOL!
