Patience is key... I've had mine for 2 months, and he's now eating regularly, and even competing with the others for food. (even with the lights on!) The first 2 weeks were the toughest... stick a few small ghost shrimp in the tank. They have the ability to detect minor electrical impulses (like the ones from the nervous system of a small creature) and he will hunt down the shrimp over night. After a while, he might start noticing flakes that are falling from the surface when everyone else is feeding, and one day will finally get curious to go up to the top and see what's going on. From there on out, its smooth sailing.

Keep offering variety...mine eat just about anything fresh or frozen, and relish mysis shrimp, krill, and small feeder fish the most. You should have little trouble...it is a rare Xenomystus that does not feed readily.

good news i bought some frozen baby brine shrimp and he is gobbling it up!!
im so relieved!

I'm glad to hear it. :-) The first thing I actually saw my knife eat was frozen plankton, but nowadays he'll eat **** near anything.
