Help, algae ?'s with pics

Thanks guys, I guess I need a way to test my co2 saturation and see where I'm at. I could add another diy co2 for now to see if that helps. I'll probably eventually change over to pressurized. I like "projects" so the diy was kind of fun to experiment with and it has definitely made a difference in my plant growth.

Thanks Ford for the info. When you say lack of nutrients could be part of the problem, what should I try?

I need help with ferts. I have a bunch, but don't know what to use. ???

Here is a good link for you that talks about using and diluting all kinds of ferts.

OOPS, our posts overlapped. You answered my question Ford. Thank you!

I'm going to mix another batch of co2 tonight and look for a drop checker.

Ferts, I may try but I have to psyche myself up for. Disaster and fish loss are always a fear in the back of my mind.

Thanks again everyone! I just love this group! I'd never try half the stuff I do without the great help and info here.

My hob filter has the under the surface output.

My diffusion method: (I thought this was pretty clever) I use a fine bubble airstone placed inside a gob of hornwort. the tiny bubbles come out of the airstone and move up the hornwort like a ladder. Bubbles are barely visible by the time they reach the surface.

Lots of great info and links here. THANK YOU! I've got a bunch of things to read, consider and try.

I just read something about high phosphates in tap water possibly being a cause of algae. I don't have a test for this. Is there another indicator of high phosphate in the water?

I'm vaguely remembering (from a conversation a long time ago) my lfs guy saying we had alot of phosphate in our water. To the point that they are close to banning lawn fertilizers and such here. At that time, it went over my head but now I'm suspicious.
