HELP, Anenome dont look good

I have a 10 gallon tank ... 5 1/2 lbs live rock, just got an anenome and its not lookin good, had it about 3 days now and I dont kno what to do.. its the only thing in the tank not doing well... any ideas? I have 18 watts light for the tank i believe, i kno they are photsynthetic... i post pic of anenome, i forget the name of it..:confused:

Looks like from the pic you've got a condy. Personally I would take it back to the pet store. It can get very large, needs a bigger tank, and has moderate to high lighting requirements. As for it not looking well... I also have a condy like yours but it has purple tips. Mine changes in appearance all the time. When feeding, doing water changes, lights off, lights on... So I couldn't really tell you if it's not well or not. I still would take it back to the LFS unless you could provide a bigger tank and more watts per gallon.
 
Well i went to the fish store and talked to a few guys, They recommended upping my specific Gravity from 1.021 - 1.024 or so that it would probably respond better. However its not seeming to eat either. I tried freeze dried krill and a dead goldfish, didnt take either one :confused:
 
I'd still take it back. I did some reading after I read your message and don't remember seeing anything about the salinity (i.e. gravity) affecting anemones. Some fish store will tell you anything just to get you to buy something. More than likely you'll get attached to the anemone and when/if it dies will purchase another from them. That keeps you coming in. Also you purchasing treatments for something you consider sick puts more money into their pockets. Not all stores are like this however. Yours could be a great store with great staff. I've only been to 2 of them in my life that actually had knowledgable staff. There's really only one anemone you could add to that tank without upgrading anything. I'll only tell you what it is however if you ask. LOL. And I know if I do I'll get flamed for it. :rolleyes:
 
That's cool that you added the new lighting... Good job. I'd still however think about a bigger tank as it grows. I feed mine raw shrimp. They also get the other frozen food I feed to my fish. The raw shirmp has to be totally cleaned. IE shell taken off, vein removed. Otherwise they digest it for a couple of days then they will spit it out. With the shell off and deviend it gets fully digested. I also noticed if I keep the shrimp in the freezer and try and feed them this way I have no luck. They will hold it for a few hours then spit it out. Mine just like only raw shrimp. Yours may be different. You may want to try it though. I can get a small pack of fresh shrimp at the local supermarket for around 2-4 bucks. I usually buy some new every week. I take out enough for my anemones, vacuum seal the bag and keep it in the fridge and steam the rest for myself. I vacuum seal it simply because I don't want it going bad. Each larger anemone I have gets one to two shrimp twice a week. I was originally feeding them more at first. They never digested it all. Hope this helps. I've also read that trace elements are neccessary for anemones. Are you adding anything to your tank? Like iron, iodine, strontium, molybdenum? My anemones are in different tanks. Some having a few of them. Some having only one or 2. The tank with the condy's gets only Kent Essential Elements once per week. The others have colars so different major and minor elements are added. My condy's look good though. So I'm guessing the elements I'm adding are sufficient. Another idea would be to add more current to your tank. In the form of more water circulation. They seem to appreciate that. All of my condy's have migrated to a high water flow area.
