HELP....Chili Coral In Trouble!

I have two in my 29. They are both under rock ledges. As stated before these are nocturnal corals. Mine only "grow" and feed at night. The will get HUGE and in my case have white polyps. I feed mine directly using a turkey baster. I feed them Reef Chili, DT, Oyster eggs, and Reef Snow. I alternate the chooses. I would leave it alone and just continue to feed it should develop a routine and inflate at about the time you feed them (like my sun coral). IMO. . .
 
Thanks, I am going to look for some Reef Chili, and I have Oyster Eggs on order from my LFS for two weeks now :( I'll call them again tomorrow and see if it's in yet. I have gotten up in the middle of the night and have NOT seen any changes in it. I think it may be slowly dying or starving to death. I don't know what else to do. I do spot feed it nightly and I saw it moving it's fingers a bit yesterday but have yet to see any white or polyps of anykind come out :( I am not sure what else to do for it. :(

Still interested any any HELP OR SUGGESTIONS from anyone. THANKS!
 
SORRY here is the latest pic.....ok I moved it one last time and setting alarm to get up durning the night to see if I see him BIGGER or any polyps coming out for a few days.

you mess with it too much. it looks okey though. you would know if it would start dying. I don't target feed most of my corals, but just put in some marine snow 1 hour before the lights go off. you also have that other coral, purple gorgonian, which I don't know anyone who has been able to keep it long term. good luck. I'll go look around for that chilli coral. looks like it would be one of those that are tricky to keep. sometimes some corals that are said to be easy to keep may possibly not like something and die. but I think that the coral needs about a week before you can tell if it likes the spot it's in. I think you move it around way too much.
 
i did read up on it and it is what i thought. it doesn't need light at all. unlike some gorgonians, chilli coral doesn't need to be fed constantly. i would place it in the area with no light with nice flow and leave it alone. once it'll come around, the bumps will expend into polyps. don't worry, it's not going to die from starvation.
 
Thanks, it's staying put now. It's either going to make it or not. It's in a place with low light now and will see how it does. I don't usually spot feed my corals either but was worried since I have never seen this coral feed since I got it many weeks ago. The other is a yellow gorgonian and it feeds all the time. It opens at night about 8 pm and is open till I turn the lights off about 11pm, Thanks I'll keep you posted.
 
Look worse.....What should I do?

Here is the latest pics as of tonight of my Chili coral. He does not move during the day, doesn't move or lift his fingers. Hasn't inflated and I have checked on him several nights and he has not been feeding at night. He looks no different during the night then he does during the day. I don't know what else to do for it. I've had it about 5 weeks now. HELP!!!

I read up on those corals that they can be harmed by the light. also, make sure no stinging corals are too close to it. i see that chilli coral is very close to anemone and xenia. also i think if xenia does well and it's almost in the same spot as chilli coral, it's too much light for your chilli coral. your coral is stressed and you refuse to keep it in a shaded area. also you were putting a glue onto the coral's foot. check the foot and see if the tissue there feels the same as the rest of the coral and it doesn't fall apart.
 
Hi, can you post update about your chili coral behavior?
My guess will be that after a half of year or more it opened for a several months and then closed again, then opened. At least my chilis are doing that.

Also, had your yellow diodogorgia gorgonian die-off at the bottom after being buried in the sand? Did it grow new branches?

Anything new non-photosynthetic or just unusual?

I have had mine for about 4 mths and keep it under an overhang at the bottom of my tank. I tried keeping it higher but it just wasnt happy and will extend its polyps over the evening and early mornings where it almost triples its size.I always spot feed it with cyclopeze or anything similar. Chili coral are non photosynthetic.
