Hey, yesterday i did a water change with a new gravel/water changer thing and its battery operated. It told me how to clean the gravel, but i dont have any gravel, only live sand. The water dumped out fine, but some sand got sucked into my dirty water bucket. The end of the gravel vac had little slits for gravel, but not sand. i got some of the sand clean and everything looks good today. I was just wondering if there was a differ gravel vac i could use for a marine aquarium with sand.

Live sand doesn't need to be cleaned like gravel does. The organisms that live in the sand eat the detritus and keep it churned over. If there's a build up a of solids in my SW tanks, I will sometimes use just a line of tubing to syphon it out, but the bed never gets a full cleaning. You might need more cleaner critters if you are having problems with waste build up--or more water current.

Well, how do you set up the tubing? and what is it?

i have like 6 hermit crabs and 2 emerald crabs, i can never find the emerald crabs, lol

Just a simple clear tubing--I actually pull the lower portion of the gravel vac off and use that. Do you have any snails? A variety of snails works best.

Do you have plans to upgrade for that angel?
