my tank has gone cloudy, I have a 3ft tank (100 litres)the temp is 24 degrees Centigrade, I have 2 angel fish, 6 guppies, 3 corydoras,3 loaches, 2 small plectomus and 3 upside down catfish. I've added "Accuclear" to the water but this doesn't seem to have worked, have I got a parasite or is there anything else anyone could suggest?

i feed them aquarian tropical flakes and tertatabimin bottom feeder food and cucumber, i have a fluval 3 and aeration from two pumps with one 12in air stone and one 1in airstone

sounds like a typical bacterial bloom...usually a murky grey cloud...and wont respond to the usual flocculant chemicals...since bacteria dont gather asily into clumps....

first a few observations by wat you have given us...

you feed a lot....and tablet foods as well...chances are this has occurred from feeding too much coupled with a need for a deep cleaning of the gravel bed. Removal of excess food will go a long way towards cleaning up the cloud...

but...the tank is pretty crowded...andyou didnt say how old it is...so some questions...

tank size?
How does the water test? pH? Ammonia? Nitrite? Nitrate?
Frequency of water changes and how much at a time?
Tank age?
Chemicals usedin the tank?

these will help much in offering you solid advice.

Tom - I've been dealing with this with Jemma on the main Freshwater board (this was cross-posted it appears). Please come and chip in - I'd appreciate your sage and experienced advice!

my tank is three foot, 100 litres almost a year old

water changes 30litres weekly

complete change every 4-6weeks

i only feed them litte at a time, none is wasted, only what they eat in on go, once a day, two tabs for the bottom feeders every other day and a pinch of flakes, if they eat it all in a few mins i give them a tiny bit more
