Help! Corydora with icky eye!

Today I got a great deal on some driftwood at a LFS but since I didn't have time to rescape I went home took the fake stuff out and dropped the new stuff in, making sure EVERYONE was out of the way. Then I looked in and saw one of my corydoras eyes was like popped so far out. I feel bad for him and I highly doubt I hit him as I was extra careful not too and I don't think it would have popped that quickly anyway. So, what do I do?? Will it ever go back to normal? He is eating and swimming and everything but it looks painful :'(
 
Poor guy. I suggest keeping the water as clean as possible. Use an extra filter (if you have one) and/or do PWC everyday. If I was in your situation, that's what I would do.

Maybe someone w/ more experience can chip in.
 
All my params are PERFECTO and he is the only one and it's only one eye. I am doing a total water change tomorrow so I can actually scape the new wood and I do PWC's at least 25% each time twice a week. I also bought a new biowheel filter today at the 60% off sale at my LFS. I have a regular under water right now that works really good but I wanted something that didn't take up any more room than it has to. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll keep an eye on my little guy. I wonder if he got hurt while dancing with one of my other cories last night, they were at it for hours (but no eggs)!
 
Got a picture? It could be a physical injury or it could be a symptom of bacterial infection, parasites, fungus ...

It's hard to say though because ... well, we can't see it.
 
What's the nitrate level? Often I find this sort of thing is related to elevated nitrate. On the other hand, I've also at least once had this sort of thing occur with a traumatic origin - in my case, the poor soul got stuck in the corner of the bag on the way from the LFS.

(NB - it's Corydoras, the 's' on the end is part of the name, not a plural)
 
if its popeye, you can treat with maracyn plus. i had good success with this medication and treating a cory with popeye.

but yeah, start conservatively. isolate the sick/injured cory. keep the water super clean and keep an eye on the fish. if it starts to heal on its own, good enough. if it starts to show signs of worsening or, at the very least, not getting better on its own, check into some meds. like i said, maracyn plus was effective for me
 
actually today I was able to examine him more carefully when I did a full water change and it looks a lot better than it did yesterday. I guess I'll just watch it for right this second and see where we get over the next day or two. Thanks everyone!
