Help! Dead Neon Tetras!

Actually,
If you own Neons long enough you'll come to realize that no, they are not delicate fish!

Aged and matured Neons are very robust and sturdy to the ways of all things and can end up being some of the hardiest fish in your collection.

The problem with Neons, as with Cardinals, is they do not deal well with the stress of transportation. A quick remedy to this is to add your initial six right away and allow the school time to settle into the new environment THEN add the rest of your school.

The new guys will freak out but instead of swimming into the glass and all together freaking out they will get the whole gang to school and it will take them much less time to get used to the tank and well, to be honest, you ...

Don't buy from walmart.
You don't want fish that just arrived.
Make sure the fish have been there a min a week before you purchase them to weed out any potential floaters who just took too much stress on from moving.

Hmmmm, I don't consider a fish species who routinely dies in transportation/acclimatization a hardy fish. However I do believe the ones who make it past transportation and the acclimatization stage to grow to maturity are the hardiest and sturdiest of their breed.
