Thanks for the suggestions all. I've still not been home from the long weekend, I'm afraid of the disaster that's waiting for me. Plan to do lots of scrubbing and a 50% water change after work for the diatom prob.
Wasn't able to get home to adjust the timing of the lights, hopefully the algae hasn't gotten to bad.

Oh...and regarding ottos...I'm generally not one to try and solve a problem by adding fish, but there are no algae eaters in the tank now. The diatom problem had been ever preseant in all my tanks so I don't forsee it going away and it must be something in my tap water.
