my LFS has a wet dry filter with what i think is a protein skimmer. its hooked up to about a 75 gallon saltwater tank. it is really really really dirty and used but looks like a quality filter.I think if i were to clean it up it would look new. Now i have a 55 gl tank w/ canopy and stand and some lighting.i also got with it a overflowbox with inner box and the part on the back w/ the vaccum hose and a return pump. i was wondering how much to offer? do you think 50 would be to little. oh
yeah i plan on running the tank with freshwater. :help:

Look it up on google and try to stay 1/2 of new. When I make offer I offer below that and let them work me up to 1/2 of new.

well i figured the protein skimmer was mainly for saltwater but i can still run for freshwater right. oh and the filter is an clear acrylic, i think it said aqua glass but it was 10 inches wide and id say a little longer than a 10 gallon tank. but the filter has been running the tank for years it looks like and it is being switched out for a 20 long sump that their setting up

i would ask them how much for it as is "dirty" before i offered a different amount. if they clean it up your gonna have to pay more. but 50.00 would be my max offer. make sure you check it over good for cracks, chips etc before a offer.

You can run a protein skimmer on freshwater but it probably won't accomplish much. They work on the principle of increased surface tension in saltwater - in freshwater they are largely ineffective.
