Help!! Emergency

I had my wife trying to help me coral two pictus cats so I can move them to a larger tank .. she was chasing them with a small net and trying to trap them in a piture I have, so as not to get them stuck in the net. we got one but the she netted the other with the net in which he got stuck in
I cut the net but he still has a small peice stuck to his fin ..
How can I remove this ??

at the moment I am accimilating them to the 180 so i figure i have an hour before i set them free

I'm no expert but if you could get close enough with a pair of tweezers you could try to grab it off with them. As long as its not too tightly fixed to the fish that youll tear the fin off if it swims away.

I had this happen to one of my pictus cats too some time ago. I cut as close as I could to the fish without hurting the fish. I had to leave the rest on the fish. The rest of the netting will eventually just rot off the fish as this is what happened to mine. It looked a little weird for a while but it did not seem to bother the fish. As long as he can still swim and eat and does not seem bothered by it you really do not have to worry about it. I think it bothered me more than the fish.

A related question (because I've had similar problems myself) what's the best way to net the fish w/o getting them caught in the net?
 
I had an upside down cat with the same problem. After about 2 weeks the net came off on its own. Just watch out for infection and treat accordingly. As far as netting fish without them getting caught, if they are catfish or plecos(both of which mostly have barbs on their fins) dont use a net..period. I used 2 tupperware containers, one to corral with, the other as the actual catching container. Corral the fish into one dish with the other dish. That is the best way to do it IMO.
 
When I introduced my first cory into a tank one of his fins punctured through the bag while iw as trying to net him >.>

i had to push it out ... and i got a bunch of water from the fishstore into my tank =(

btw the best way to catch fish is to use two nets... or one net and a long wooden spoon/stick ...
 
I've never really had a fish that shouldn't be netted, but when I only need to catch one fish that is'nt much of a fast swimmer I just scoop it out with a container.
