Hi Folks,

Have a bit of a multi-factorial problem with my 37 gallon planted freshwater tank. Two 30+ gallon power bio-filters.
First of all - The parameters are fine - 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates, pH 7.0. I do weekly 25% water changes. It is inhabited by 3 guppies, 4 cherry barbs, 1 bamboo shrimp, 1 oto cat, and 3 mystery snails, and 1 male german blue ram.

Three of the cherry barbs have started "flashing", rubbing on the driftwood and decorations, as has 1 male guppy. I know what this means - external parasites. I have tangled with parasites in this tank before about a month ago and thought I had cleaned up the problem with some parasite guard tablets given in two treatments.

I would just treat again but I have read that Rams do not take well to medicines and I do not have a hospital tank. However, this one was tank bred and I have been told he is heartier than the usual Ram breeds. On top of that, my guppies JUST gave birth yesterday.

Anyone know if I am looking at a dead ram and dead babies if I treat with parasite guard again?

Thanks, and sorry for the lengthy post.

I should probably also mention that the German blue Ram and the Bamboo shrimp came in after the last dosing of parasite guard. I would not be asking if I had already dosed him successfully before!

Treatment done a month ago should be a problem but I would be concern about med's toxicity on shrimp and frys.
