help fast phosphates

Phosphates can be a real headache. I have a phosphate concern in my reef and to get rid of the end product I use a phosphate reactor and fill it with Phosban (same as Phosguard - just different mfr) and then in the considerable open space in the reactor I use charcoal. I haven't had a problem since, but again that treats the symptoms not the root cause.

You seemed to have ruled the source (RO) as a cause. Next you would need to consider how much and how often you feed. Also, what you feed. If you are using frozen, then you need to rinse the food once it has thawed - otherwise you are introducing another source of phosphates in your tank.

Finally, is the photo period. I will look to see your response to the above requests for your photo period and presence of hair algae and cyano.

Also, water changes help quite a bit...but won't be the cure if photo period and food source continue as they are.

i cut the light 30min only half of my lights to help keep the algae down. its a brown algae mainly on on the sand. i cut the lights the samr day as the tested the water so i dont think it is that

i feed flakes once aday. and seaweed once aday. they eat the flake vary quickly and i also feed my other tank same thing but no probles in that tank. i put new seaweed in once aday and only lever it in there for about 1 to 1 1/2 hr because my fish just eat all of it.
