My female red-clawed just molted a day or two ago but this morning I found her on one of my plants and I noticed her undershell is wide open! It looks like it's been torn open or something. She's alive, I know because her mouth parts are moving and so are her legs. She's missing a leg on her left side. There are two pics below of her and her open undershell. I know molting is a stressful time for RCCs but I doubt that her undershell being open like it is is a normal thing. Help!! Please!!!

Ten minutes later: I just checked on her and her undershell is closed! I've never had crabs before so I'm not a hundred percent positive on what to expect with a molting. Please help this poor, idiotic newbie.

Ten minutes later (again): The undershell is open again! She's just sitting there, out in the open, her undershell hanging widing open. It's completely unlike her to just sit there in the open! She's usually hiding in the skull I've got in there (it's fake; the skull, that is). What in the blazes is going on? Forgive me for seeming a little panicky, I just am really fond of her and I don't want to lose her.

am not a crab expert or kept them, but she may be keeping it open to get fresh water and oxigen to her new shell to harded up. hope things go well.

She's got somewhere to hide but she won't go into it. My male crab is in his little hiding place, leaving her alone and my fish don't even notice her.

Nevermind, y'all. She's dead. Thanks anyway.

same position one of my fiddlers died in.....
