Help figuring out overflow

I am currently in the process of planning my tanks upgrade to a larger size(from 10g with 5g sump to 15-20g with 10-20g sump)

What I am currently trying to figure out is all of the pieces I will need to make the overflow work.

I know I will need
1)Bulkheads
2)tubing
3)pumps
4)diamond holesaw
6)patience

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would outline a general list of actual parts I should get, such as sizes and quantities. I want to have at least 2 outflow bulkheads and 2 inflow bulkheads.

are you drilling the tank?

how big is the main tank?
my 110 is drilled with a 1" return bulk head and a 1 1/2" drain. the holes are actually slightly larger than those dimensions

you need bulk heads on the tank and on the sump/refugium.

same size . I plumbed mine with pvc pipe (white) consumer pvc

but you can use different schedule pvc the grey stuff is schedule 80 white is usually schedule 40 the 80 can be tapped for threaded fittings. there is also cpvc. but pvc is usually sufficient..when using the cement tho you need to run it with water to remove any residual cement.

you can also use barbed fittings and flexible hose usually best to get the reinforced hose for this tho (added precaution) you need to map out the pipes and fittings ahead of time.

what size you drill is partly based on the ver all tank sizes.
what size pump is also variable..remember that the gph is affected by distance and diameter. so when determining the pump remember head ht and distance..each fitting will restrict some of the flow.

I am going to go with barbed fittings and flexible tubing, as well as drilling.

The tank size will be between 15 and 20 gallons, with a sump of 10-20 gallons.
