yeah, I'm not sure if I want a waterfall in this one... and I'm trying to keep it simple. all I really want to do is simulate the shutoff/quickdisconnect feature on my ehiem.
Hurm, check Walmart for plastic quick disconnect fittings for garden hoses. I think those are only a few bucks. You could plumb them in with double ended reducing barb fittings. Has a barb on each end of different sizes.
essentially, that's what I got from homedepot, its a ball valve with 2 step downs. the only step downs they had that fit inside 3/8" tubing have 1/4" inside diamter...
If it's a ball valve, then it's not what I'm talking about and every ball valve I've ever seen at Home Depot doesn't have any sort of quick disconnect.
those look cool but by the time I step up and down from them, I have 8" of plumbing, where the ball valve is about 4-5". I wish someone just made barbed disconnects for 3/8" tubing!!!!
Id just like to throw out there, that those quick disconnect valves dont isolate.
meaning, once you pull them apart, there is nothing stopping the water flow.
thats why you need 2 ball valves, so water doesnt keep pouring out the other side.
also, tubing with an ID of 3/8" has a 1/2" OD .... and you should be looking around 1/2" fittings, as they are normally listed by there outside diameter, whereas threads are listed as there inside diameters.
