HELP! Got a goldfish as a kiddie birthday party favor!

EEECCCHHHH!

Ok I normally would stay out of threads like this but....sorry I just have to comment.

I know and understand you are all talking about a living thing and all. I commend you all on posing your thoughts and opinions.

That being said.

People this thread is about a comet. A 25¢ fish. A FEEDER fish.
More than 95% of all comets sold are sold as live food. So yes it may make some of you feel good to get on Teapea's case and rant about the 10 gallon. But come on people lets be honest here.

If she were going to bring back the fish, odds are it would be food for something else within a week or two. Oh ya that's much better. I'm positive that it will live much much longer than that in a 10 gallon in a home with some who actually cares about this fish. No?

Honestly. How many people do you know that truly know how and actually do place goldfish in a proper sized tank? Working at Big Al's I can tell you from personal experience in our store at least. Maybe 3% of the people that buy them. Yes they are warned and it is mentioned when they buy. Trust me most don't care. It is 25¢ fish.

Kudos to you Teapea. You are IMO doing the right thing. A 10 gallon tank with proper care is much better than the alternative.

I think some people need to relax a little. State you opinion and leave it at that. No need to get in huff if your advice is not followed. GEEZ.

This isn't a shot at anyone. I have read and completely respect and agree with the other posts in the past by the people who have answered this particular post .

This is just how it seemed to come off from a guy who happened to open up and read a thread that he normally wouldn't.

Just my two cents.

A 25 cent fish? I like how you keep repeating that. Your life is worth less than that to me so I will treat you accordingly. Your child's life is worth about 5 cents to me so I will treat them accordingly.

I'm not upset. But if you ask how to properly take care of a lifeform I will tell you how to with the best of my knowledge. If you ask me how much it is cost effective I will tell you how.

If you base a price on any life I will tell you exactly how much I value you and give you my opinion on what I would provide for you.

So just state: How do I properly take care of this creature? OR Based on how much I have to pay for this creature how much should I pay to take care of this creature? Are we running a business here? My God, I wonder what the stockholders might say to this cost expense.

Humans are a dime a dozen. A $.25 fish is far more expensive in comparision.

Agreed. Pull the thread. Taking care of fish is not what we are about here.

Guys, we are here to offer advice, people that come to ask us questions can either take our advice or not. Yelling at them and attacking them will just cause them to leave, and that doesnt help out the fish either, does it.

Ok, before I close this thread, let me write out a summary of the useful information I was able to get from scanning this thread. The goldfish needs an aquarium that is large enough to accomendate its needs. Sweet and simple huh?

Thread closed, take your bickering through emails and/or PMs, not in a public forum.
