Help!! Have Ick!!

i just noticed the fish in my 10 gallon tank have ich.i read dave's article and i was just wondering....it says you can use table salt? does this mean grab some morton's salt and mix it with some of the tank water and put it in?? morton's salt? lol geeze i hope so because i just added 2 teaspoons full for my first application, it felt odd doing so, so i thought i would ask before i added my second dose an hour from now.Also, i have a dwarf blue gourami in there with no visible ich atm, is he ok in there with all of these water changes and such? im dont know how sensitive a dwarf gourami is to salt and other things.And one more thing, i dont have a tank heater.....the temp stays where it should w/o one, can i still fight ich w/o it, or do i need to go and purchase one and raise the temp? temp stays at 80-84 degrees F

I'm new to this as well, but from what I've learned that temperature is too hot. Of course I don't know what other fish you have. I keep mine at 76 F. But when you're treating for ich, you raise it slowly to 82-86. But you don't keep it that hot for very long. And I found that dwarf gourami's can tolerate a little salt. I used table salt. Just raise the level slowly. If you follow his (dave's) steps, you should kill the ich without harming your fish.

Actually im looking at the thermo now , i typo'd and confused me lil ole self...the tank stays at 70-74 degrees F.May have been cause i had just overloaded my brain with dave's article and had 80 degrees on my mind,lol.Then i sat down and read your reply and was like ....tooo hot? huh? so i had to go and look at my thermo,lmao. anywho, so morton's salt it is? correct? im not all that sure i understand how much to add per gallon. 2 teaspoons per gallon...right? i/4 teaspoon added every hr at first?or 2 teaspoons every hr? lol...eeeekkk too many numbers, brain cramps..its late.LOl, i added 2 tsp for he first application and discovered that was a bit much at first so i had to remove some of the water...my fish are not happy with me atm.
 
Table salt is fine and I either use Morton's or I buy the big "no name" brand my grocery store sells.

Gradually raise the temp to around 84* and gradually add the salt in. ¼ teaspoon per gallon at a time is fine. Just do it gradually because you are changing the water chemistry and you don't want to shock your fish.

Dave's salt treatmeant post is working very well for me (11th day). I've not had a fish or shrimp die during this time. Before using meds I had 4 Cardinals and 3 Pandas die.

Fighting algae on my plants now (last 5 days) but I think it's cause of the heat so I've been doing daily water changes for that. Just started to back down on the heat from 87 to 86 and one degree a day now till treatment is over should be safe (seen no ich for 5 days now).
